Drama, drama, drama... Metro Districts Follow Up

Drama Giphy.gif

Shortly after we published our blog post, “What is a Metro (Special Taxing) District & What Prospective Buyers Need To Know,” the Denver Post also published an article regarding Metro Districts, “Colorado metro districts and developers create billions in debt, leaving homeowners with soaring tax bills,” (maybe they got the idea from us 😉) and it has created some drama! There has been a wide spectrum of responses... some people championing the article, adding fuel to their metro districts hate-fire! Others are crying foul and Fake News!

Here’s our take...

The Denver Post article brought more attention to Metro Districts, which we support and appreciate. We believe that one of the best things we can do for our clients is equip them with information and resources so THEY can make the best and most informed decision.

The downside to the article, it took a stark, fear-filled position on the issue. We have clients who live in metro districts and love their neighborhood, amenities, location and appreciate the value that it brings to their life. We have other clients who have no desire to live in a metro district or an HOA. We believe there is plenty of room in the Northern Colorado real estate market for an encompassing perspective on the issue.

Bottom Line...

Many Metro Districts serve a need in our real estate market. If developers and builders didn’t have this tool to utilize, we would see a hefty increase on the purchase prices of new homes, which would adversely affect the supply and demand problem we have here in NoCo. Metro Districts are also different from neighborhood to neighborhood from their mill levy to included amenities, etc.

Fear-based decisions often have undesirable outcomes. We prefer a different four letter F-word (it’s probably not what you are thinking 😉)... FIND! Find help (Like a great Realtor, ah-um... The Sall Team!), Find resources, Find what works for you and your family, and Find what brings you value!
